How a SanDiegoMake medal hanger is made

From a design file to powder-coated steel, a quick look at the process behind every hanger.

Starter post. Edit or replace it with your own words, photos and video.

Every hanger starts as a design file: the name, the font and the graphic a customer picked. From there:

  1. Cut. The design is cut from 0.1” steel on the machines at Community Werkshop here in San Diego.
  2. Sand. Edges and surfaces are sanded smooth.
  3. Powder coat. A powder-coat finish gives the glossy color and rounds over any sharp edges.
  4. Pack and ship. The family helps with packaging and labels, and orders go out on Monday.
